Mr. President-Elect

Recently, I posted a sincere “Thank You” soon-to-be-ex-President Bush. As a supporter of President-Elect Obama I felt obligated to give the now-officially-lame-duck president his due credit in helping to open the door to Obama’s election…even if he didn’t mean it. Cafferty agrees with me, too. You can read my “thank you” here

.

Now on to what is the greatest trajety of the soon-to-be Obama administration, also thanks to George W. Bush. On his first day at work, January 20 of next year, he will sit down to the Inbox from Hell. Let’s do a comparison to illustrate what I mean. What was waiting for G.W. Bush when he went on the job back in 2000?

  • Budget Surplus. The US was MAKING MONEY!!!
  • No debt. America didn’t owe money to anyone!
  • Low unemployment.
  • Relative peace. Only some minor U.N. involvement in Africa and Bosnia, which were supported internationally.
  • A very positive world image.
Now let’s see what G.W. Bush is leaving in the “To Do” pile for his replacement.
  • Massive deficet.
  • A National debt so large that it is a major security concern.
  • The highest unemployment rate in 14 years.
  • 2 active wars.
  • “Rouge” nations capable or almost capable of producing nuclear weapons.
  • Global warming.
  • Horrible international reputation.
  • Innovation (America’s biggest $$$ generator) stifled by Theocracy.
And that’s just the stuff we know about!
President-Elect Obama has already proven with his campaign that he’s extremely efficient and can surround himself with intelligent, loyal people. He can even get the support from Republican’s, too. Let’s hope that he can keep that ability moving forward as he picks his cabinet and other staff appointments. Who he decides to surround himself with will directly reflect how he intends to run his administration.
